Upcoming talks - at our new venue!

Below is a list of our upcoming talks. These will take place at FACES café on Station Road opposite the former Methodist Church where we used to meet (postcode BS23 1XB).

Car parking is much easier and access by bus is very good.

Entry to our talks costs £2 for members and £4 for non-members.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

Summer activities

Tuesday 4th June

Option 1 - A guided bird walk in Congresbury

At 10am Trevor Riddle of YACWAG will lead a walk from the bridge leading to Millennium Green. The walk will then proceed along the river to Cobthorn Nature Reserve and back to the Millennium Green.

To get there by car, use the postcode BS49 5JA. To travel there by bus, catch the X1 from Weston. Access to the bridge is through the The Congresbury Arms car park.

There is a suggested donation of £2 to YACWAG for this activity.

Option 2 - A Historical trail around Congresbury village

For those unable to access the bird walk, a historical trail through Congresbury is planned. A map of the route and more details will be available on our Facebook page and this website closer to the time of the event.


Tuesday 9th July

A visit to Puxton Church

Beginning at 2pm, WANHS President Vince Russett will lead a visit to Puxton Church.

To get there by car, use the postcode BS24 6TF and park in the road near the church. Getting to the church by bus is possible but requires a mile-long walk down a single-track lane from the bus stop. You can get to the Puxton Lane bus stop on the X1 route from Weston.

Please make a donation in the box inside the church.


Tuesday 6th August

A guided walk around Stanton Drew

Commencing at 2pm, our Archaeology Secretary Heather Morrisey will guide a walk around the Stanton Drew monument.

To get there by car, use the postcode BS39 4EJ. Please share cars if possible. Car parking is limited but available.

Please make a donations in the box by the entry point.

The local pub, The Druids Arms, serves lunch for those who wish to begin their visit early, some of the Stanton Drew stones are in their pub garden!
