Visitors and new members are welcome. There is normally no charge, but in the case of the West Sedgemoor visit below RSPB charge £1.50 for RSPB members and £4 for non-members.

Starlings by the Million

A visit to Shapwick Heath or Ham Wall RSPB Reserve to see the evening roosting of several million starlings. We meet at Ashcott Corner car park (ST449398), which lies between the two reserves, and a decision on which of the two to visit will be taken on the day depending on the location of the starlings. We will be meeting at 3 p.m., one hour before sunset just as the evening’s activities start to get underway.

West Sedgemoor RSPB Reserve

A conducted tour led by an RSPB guide to see the flocks of birds that visit this important wetland reserve every winter from north and central Europe. Large numbers of widgeon, teal, golden plover, lapwings, mute swans, red shank, snipe & heron and various other wildfowl are to be seen on the reserve, as well as birds of prey, such a peregrine falcons and marsh harriers. The Wonders of a Bluebell Wood

A visit to Priors Wood (ST4974) near Portbury. This is one of the finest bluebell woods in Somerset. It is also an excellent example of an ancient woodland with many magnificent trees, birds and other wildlife. We meet in the lay-by just to the west of Portbury village.
